Mother’s Day is all about moms. While we usually reserve space in our newsletters for advice, information and more related to water damage, mold remediation, fire damage etc, today we are taking the opportunity to introduce you to the mother of one of our principals, Flora. Flora is Clayton Blount’s mother and she took some time to speak to us about her memories of her son growing up and about their relationship today.
“Clayton was a handful.” Believe it or not, Clayton has always had an eccentric personality. Flora described him as outgoing and energetic and said that he “never met a stranger.” Despite this, Clayton has always been a source of pride for his mother. The oldest of 3 children, he was a successful football athlete and when he set his mind on achieving something, he would always accomplish it. After high school, he was undecided about his career choice but Flora believed that his gift of gab meant he should definitely pursue something in the field of sales. After a few years of working at different places, Clayton moved to Charlotte and that’s when he “found himself.” Flora was excited and hopeful when he started H2O Drying Solutions with his business partner and she is pleased with the way things have been going so far. Clayton gets along well with his business partner Lorne, and together they’ve managed to build a great business.
Throwback: Clayton and Flora enjoy a dance together
Now that he’s an adult, Clay (as Flora fondly referred to him) has become a loving parent and husband. As a child she instilled in him the importance of being true to himself, being an honest and hard-working Christian and she believes he has retained these values well. Clayton always had a good relationship with both of his parents although Flora did say that she often had to play the “bad cop” to ensure that all of her children did their work and behaved themselves. It definitely paid off though as Clayton has developed an exceptional work ethic.
Flora and ‘Clay’ enjoying some time together
Even though he’s no longer her baby boy, Flora still enjoys spending time with ‘Clay’ whenever she can. She’s pleased that he's turned out to be the kind of man he is. She describe him as having a big heart, often working in the community and willing to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He's generous with his time and whatever he has and he always makes sure to invite her to events.
On this special day, we wish a Happy Mother’s Day to Flora and to all the moms out there. Whether you have the opportunity to celebrate this day with your kid(s) or not, we wish you all the best. Happy Mother’s Day!
